We begin the season on November 4-6 with Enchanted April by Matthew Barber. When two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages, they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and the experience. There, amoung the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four women and the men in their lives, rediscover themselves in ways they could never have expected. The audition workshop will be August 25, auditions August 26 and the callbacks on August 27. The cast has 5 female and 3 male roles.
The Tenth Annual Madrigal Dinner will be December 9-11 at Baker Church. Auditions for the acting ensemble will be held in late September. Further announcements will follow after school begins.
The Winter Play, Reckless, by Craig Lucas will be February 3-5. At home on Christmas Eve, Rachel is informed by her guilty husband that he has hired a hitman to kill her, and she must flee for her life which she does by scrambling out the kitchen window and into the snowy night. She meets and joins up with Lloyd Bophtelophti. a true "original" who has changed his name to avoid alimony payments and who now lives with a paraplegic named Pootie (who also pretends to be deaf in order to get double disability). Rachel then wins $100,000 on a TV game show and begins a series of picaresque escapades involving numerous psychiatrists and, eventually, an ill-fated reunion with her husband. In the end, Rachel becomes a therapist herself, treating her own child (who fails to recognize her) and is led more and more to ponder whether the modern world might not be a vast conspiracy designed to systematically undermine her own increasingly shaky sanity. The cast has 4 female and 4 male roles.
This years' Spring Musical is The Music Man, by Meredith Willson and will be April 28-May 1. This show is a paean to small town USA of a bygone era that follows the fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boy's band he vows to organize despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. To view the roles available check out the following link: http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000053 and look under casting.
