Polar Notes - December 2015

andy montgomery

Season’s Greetings to all of our fabulous St. Charles North Music parents!! This month is a busy one for everyone, I’m sure! We have had lots of music made, with much more coming up!

Congratulations to all of our musicians on outstanding fall concerts!! The level of musicianship was high and the music was beautiful!

IMEA

On that note, the St. Charles North music department saw many students audition into and participate in the ILMEA District 9 band, orchestra, choir, and jazz festivals this fall. Congratulations to all who auditioned to all who were accepted into the different musical groups!

ILMEA Traditional participants – Grant Aguirre, Mike Anderson, Christine Beal, Dewey Bolz, Emma Breen, Kayla Bussert, Brett Husar, Emily Kaliski, Kira Nutter, Jacob Rollins, Jake Rossi, Clayton Senechalle, Emma Spellman, Grace Taylor, Sophie Wasilevich

ILMEA Jazz participants – Ally Hahn, Emily Kaliski, Miranda Keigher, Jakob Moberly, Macintosh Rivara, Tracy Suppes, Amada Vallejara

Jazz Festival

SCN was invited to host the Jazz Festival this year. We had many parents step up to provide food, serving help, and ticket sales help. The directors from the other high schools were thrilled with the hospitality shown by our school and parents. A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped! Thanks Deb Anderson, Sara Baratta, Carrie Black, Cait Flones, Andy Hahn, Kris Hahn, Miranda Keigher, Betsy Nelson, Bev Nesbit, Cristie Nutter, and Lisa Zangora!

St. Charles Holiday Parade

Did you see our Marching North Stars in the Holiday Parade? All decked out in uniforms and decorations, they were a sight to see! And they sounded just as good! In order to get the kids all dressed in their uniforms, many parents came in to help out. This was the first time the students wore their uniforms, so many hands were needed and much appreciated. Thank you to our Parade Parents: Laurey Benshish, Kim Devine, Patti Ellingson, Cait Flones, Andy Hahn, Kris Hahn, Annemarie Hocking, Andrea Lee, Celeste Marc, Tim Moberly, Bev Nesbit, Cathy Schwanebeck, Hannah Ware, Stacy Wasilevich, John Whitehurst, and Marybeth Whitehurst.

Constellation tickets, help, and vintage spirit wear sales!

Our Constellation concert is coming up next week on December 17, 2015! There are 2 performances (6:00 and 8:00 pm). The same performance will occur at both times. Have you gotten your tickets yet? If not, please visit scnmusic.com to purchase them today. The 6:00 pm show usually sells out, so don’t delay!

Are you coming to the 6:00 show and want to help out with the other? We are looking for a few more people to help backstage during the 8:00 show. Easy work with benefits! If you help out, you get to enter first for the show you are seeing! If you’ve been to the Constellation concert before, you know how hard it is to get good seats. Take advantage of this benefit and contact Jennifer Nemetz to volunteer at jennifernemetz@ismie.com.

Spiritwear

Do you have a child who could use a little more SCN music spirit wear? Or maybe it’s really for you! We have vintage spirit wear available for sale at the Constellation concerts. There is a bunch of stuff – ornaments, magnets, various shirts, and the ever-popular Cowbell t-shirts. Stop by in the lobby and check out what we have (not all sizes are available) and take something home with you – the prices can’t be beat!

Madrigals

Congratulations to the Madrigals on an excellent dinner and performance. What a treat to see and hear. Watch the website for pictures from the dinner, coming soon! If you missed out on this fabulous show, I believe there will be several songs performed at Constellation on December 17.

Veteran’s Day Concert

The Veteran’s Day Concert was a huge hit once again. The bands really stepped up and provided wonderful entertainment for our veterans. And the singers were outstanding and a beautiful addition to the evening. If you missed this year’s concert, you can plan ahead for next year. It is always on November 11th, no matter what day of the week it falls on. What an awesome way to recognize and commemorate so many veterans’ service to our great country! Special thanks go out to the many volunteers who made this concert an outstanding community event.

2015 Donations

Did you know that the Friends of Music is a 501(c)(3) organization that survives on donations and fundraisers? As we finish up the year, the Friends of Music would like to ask you to consider making an end of the year donation. We supplement many, many activities in the music department and donations are one way that makes it possible to do. No donation is too small and every little bit helps us provide opportunities that our students appreciate – scholarships to summer camp, clinicians during the school year, materials and uniforms, instruments, and more! Please go to the scnmusic.com site and click the “donate” button. Your tax-deductible donation means more opportunities for our children’s musical future!

Well, thank you once again for reading to the end of our long, long newsletter. But, every bit of it shows the many ways our students excel in music, as well as all the parents who stand behind them and help! We encourage every parent to be involved in some way. There are many, many opportunities to be involved with something that is going on. Volunteer to help with the Constellation concert, offer to be involved with Jazz Showcase, be a parent that assists with uniforms, help plan one of our fundraisers, work with your child’s director on a special event for that group. There are so many events throughout the year and so many chances to get involved. Your child will only be at St. Charles North for 4 years. Don’t let that time slip away without doing something to be part of it. I have never heard anyone say that they wished they had done less – most people have students graduate from high school and wish they had been more involved. Take the chance and get involved. Below is a letter from Linda True, who is the event chair for our wonderful Jazz Showcase. Please read it over and consider if there is something that you could do to help! Linda’s contact information is included. This event needs your help!

Have a wonderful holiday season!!

Cait Flones

President, SCN Friends of Music

Dear Families of SCN Music Students,

As you may know, St. Charles North is a Grammy Award winning high school. We have been able to achieve this success in part because proceeds from our Jazz Showcase and other fundraisers. They have given us the ability to bring in guest clinicians, provide travel opportunities to national and international events and purchase and maintain musical instruments for the students.

This year, the Jazz Showcase will be held on Saturday, May 21st at The Q Center in St. Charles. Both instrumental and vocal jazz groups will be performing. Although talented jazz ensembles of SCN will be featured that night, it is important to understand that the proceeds of this fundraising event benefits ALL of the amazing music programs at SCN.

The tradition of this event provides an opportunity for time spent with family and friends enjoying the entertainment and our annual Silent Auction. As you can imagine, an evening of this magnitude has many facets to its continued success. This is where you come in. There are many ways that you can support this event.

  • Buy tickets and attend with family and friends
  • Purchase ad space in the event program for your business or invite a friend to
  • Make a donation to the silent auction or raffle
  • Volunteer your time by participating in one of the many subcommittees of this event:
  • Donation gathering
  • Set up
  • Tickets
  • Help during the event
  • Advertising

The students are what make the evening memorable, but the donations are what make the event a fundraising success beyond covering the cost of the venue. Gift cards, autographed memorabilia, tickets, large or small items, services – anything at all that you would be willing to donate would be greatly appreciated!

Please email me to let me know how you would like to show your support for the music programs of SCN. Don’t forget your contact information, and let me know of any questions you may have.

On behalf of the music students, staff at St. Charles North High School and the Friends of Music parents, I thank you very much for your consideration and support of this special event.

Sincerely,

Linda True

Polar Notes – October 2015

andy montgomery

Greetings to our music families!!

So, October has gotten away from me… is everyone as crazy busy as I am? Thanks for understanding the late Polar Notes!

We are wrapping up the first quarter of school and finishing up the marching band season. Can you tell that my kid is in marching band? Thankfully, the weather has been fabulous on game days! Now we start gearing up for fall concerts! Check out all the fun things we have going on!

John Wojciechowski Quartet Coming To SCN!!

Wednesday, October 28, 2015

In the 11 years he’s been at St. Charles North High School, Mr. Wojo’s quartet has only played for his students one time. To celebrate the release of their newest CD, the John Wojciechowski Quartet will be playing a special concert to benefit the Friends of Music. Sandwiched between performances at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival and the Green Mill, this unique event will happen on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in our own SCN auditorium. Please mark your calendars and get your tickets now! Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors. CDs will be available for purchase and the Quartet will be available after the show for autographs! We don’t know when Mr. Wojciechowski will bring his quartet back to North, so don’t miss out! Tell your friends (especially if they are alums!) Tickets are available through scnmusic.com. Thanks for supporting the Friends of Music!

Cheesecake and Entertainment Card Sale!

Our annual cheesecake and entertainment card fundraiser is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Order forms have gone home – hopefully you have seen it!! Ask your child if you haven’t! Order forms are due back to the directors by October 27, along with payment. Entertainment cards can be purchased online through www.cherrydale.com, but cheesecakes have to be ordered with the paper order form. Please check out the forms that were sent home and contact your child’s director if you need another copy. Pick up will be on November 13 from 2:30-6:30 pm at door 17 (around the back, by the music rooms). Thanks for eating some yummy cheesecake to support your kids! It’s a sacrifice!

Download the Cheesecake and Entertainment Card order form here!

Freshman Concerts

Do you have a freshman this year? At the first concert, there will be a short presentation about the music program and Friends of Music at the conclusion of the concert. This is designed to be sure you know the expectations for your child’s group, as well as an introduction to the fabulous things Friends of Music is doing and how to get involved.
SpiritwearMany, many thanks go out to Dee Dee DeCosterd for organizing the spiritwear sales! Dee Dee has been working hard on another set of cool music spiritwear, just in time for Christmas shopping!! So, watch for information about it. We are trying to “go green”, so order forms will be sent home digitally. If you don’t have access to a printer, there will be some forms with the directors. Just ask your child to pick one up. I’ve seen the new ideas and they are really cool!

Vintage spiritwear will be on sale at the Constellation Concerts in December. You can’t beat the prices and everyone needs another “More Cowbell” shirt!! Look for the table in the lobby and stop by. Shirts, magnets, Christmas ornaments, and more! Once it’s gone, it’s gone. So, come by and see what we have that you need!

Veterans Day Celebration Concert

November 11

The Veteran’s Day Concert is a fabulous community-wide event that takes place every year on November 11. Our wind ensemble, wind symphony, and varsity bands play a plethora of patriotic tunes for the local veterans and their families. If you haven’t made it to a Veteran’s Day Concert, you need to get your free tickets and come enjoy a great community event!! Check out scnmusic.com to get your free tickets! Yes, they are free, but you still have to have tickets. This event is packed every year, so don’t wait! Do you have a veteran in your family? Bring him/her with you. It’s more than a concert – it’s an awesome event!

Upcoming volunteer opportunities

Just drop a note to the person listed and they can help you get involved!

ILMEA Jazz Festival – Saturday, November 14, 2015
at SCN Music wing. We are hosting the ILMEA Jazz Festival and we need a few parents to help with some pretty easy tasks.

  • Picking up and setting up breakfast for the directors.
  • Providing some soups/Italian beef, etc. for lunch for the directors.
  • Helping with serving lunch.
  • Selling and collecting tickets for the concerts at 2:15 and 4:00.

Think about what might be appealing to you. I’m going to try something new – online volunteering!! Once I get it set up, I’ll get an email sent out with the link. You just sign up – and it sends you reminders! Who doesn’t like reminders?? And then just follow through on what you signed up for. Sounds simple, right? So, watch for the email with the link. Maybe it’ll work so well that we can use it for other volunteer opportunities!

Constellation Concert – December 17 at 6pm and 8pm
Jennifer Nemetz, chair (Jennifernemetz@ismie.com or 630-584-0403).

The Constellation Concert (December 17 @ 6 and 8 pm) is the most unique concert you will ever attend. There are approximately 30 groups that perform in 90 minutes and there are 2 concerts in the evening. The curtain goes up on stage for one of the orchestras, then lights go up on the side entryway for a woodwind quartet, then lights go up in back for a percussion piece, then lights go up in the center for a choir piece, then back to the stage, etc. I like to think of it as a concert for people with ADD. A lot is going on in a very short time, with no downtime for set changes!! Obviously, we need a lot of people to keep the kids going in the right direction! If you volunteer to help out for a concert, you will get to have first dibs on your seats for the concert you are attending. I have to say it’s one of the coolest concerts I’ve seen because almost every single music group at North performs! The marching band even has a part!! Come join the fun times! Jennifer will get you set up with a job to do! The more, the merrier. It’s not even hard, just fun!!

Jazz showcase – May 21, 2016 (Note the date – It’s a Saturday this year!)
Linda True, chair.

Silent Auction and Jazz Performance. This massive event is the biggest fundraiser for our music program. All facets of the music department benefit from this fundraiser. Are your kids in music? Then this fundraiser is for your child’s program!

Please consider what you can do to help. This is a huge event that needs LOTS of support. Please, please, please, think about what your strengths are. There are people who would fit into all of the different roles that we have. Please help us be able to host this fabulous event. Without parent support and assistance, we will not have this awesome event and our entire music department will suffer. Please consider volunteering for some piece of this event.

Senior Recognition –
Cathy Schwanebeck cschwanebeck@sbcglobal.net

Senior recognition is an end-of-year event. Volunteers are needed to pin flowers on the seniors at their final concerts of the year. If you have a senior, this is the perfect volunteer opportunity!! Cathy’s last child is graduating, so we will be looking for someone to take over next year’s ordering of flowers and coordination of “pinners”. Do you have a junior this year? You could work with Cathy this year to learn the ropes and be ready for next year.

If you have an interest in any opportunities listed above, please send a note to the contact person listed or to me (caitflones@aol.com). We will get you involved and connected!! Thanks to you, we can have an awesome year!!!

Communication Chair (still) Needed!!

We are in need of a website/communication chair. This person would send out email blasts, update the website and set up ticket sales for our various events. This is a super important job, but not difficult or time consuming. We can show you how to do everything (well, actually Andy Montgomery will)! Please let me know if you have an interest in this!!

The End!

You did it!! You made it to the end of this edition of Polar Notes! It’s hard to believe how much stuff we have going on to support all of our music kids. If you need something, just ask any of the board members. We can usually point you in the right direction!!

From the president - August 2015

Welcome to all St. Charles North Music Parents!!

There is a lot going on in the Music Department for the 2015-2016 school year, and Friends of Music is working hard to help support all of the activities that are happening.

For those of you new to North High School, Friends of Music is the parent support organization for the Music Department at St. Charles North High School. We support all music activities and ensembles, from Marching Band in the fall, to the Veteran’s Concert, Constellation Concert in December, New York Voices in the spring, the Spring Gala, and the Jazz Showcase in May. Besides helping organize parent volunteers, we provide support for all ensembles in a number of areas. Here is a brief list of some of the things Friends of Music has provided:

  • Fund clinicians to work with different music groups
  • Purchased new wireless mics for Vocal Jazz Ensembles in 2013
  • Purchased new music sorting system for choir groups
  • Purchased new sound board for the music department
  • Scholarships to attend summer music camps for band, orchestra, and jazz students
  • Provide flowers for all graduating seniors
  • Fund replacement parts for marching band uniforms

None of this would be possible without the support of parent volunteers. If you are volunteering, thank you so much for your support! If you aren’t, please consider donating some of your time to support your child and the others involved in music.

How can you get involved? There are a number of ways:

  • Sign up for an event at Fitting Days (August 10-13 and August 18) – we are still in need of several people who can help with sewing on Tuesday and Wednesday (8/11 & 8/12). This is not difficult, basically just tacking a hem. We are also in need of a few people on Tuesday and Wednesday to help with uniform fitting, basically helping to find uniforms to fit the students. Please send an email to northstarsmarchingband@gmail.com to volunteer.
  • Go online to scnmusic.com and click on Volunteers.
  • Watch for updates and requests to come along throughout the year. Some requests are for short (1 day) events and some requests are for longer time frames. We would like to ask all parents to consider what your talents are and to find something that speaks to your heart. There are parents who are capable of so many different tasks, and we have a spot that would fit just about everyone. Please consider donating your time to make this year the best one ever. Thank you in advance for your willingness to step up and help the SCN music program become even better!

The Friends of Music Board is a group of volunteers that help drive support of all activities. The 2015-2016 Friends of Music Board is as follows:

The board and I are very interested in receiving your feedback on how things are going, what is working and more importantly what isn’t. Feel free to contact any of us with your comments, questions, and suggestions. You will be receiving communications from the Friends of Music. I ask that you check to see if you are receiving these emails. If you have been getting the emails, there is nothing you need to do. If you have not been receiving FoM emails, please send your email address to fomcommunications@gmail.com. Please, also, notify us if you have an additional email address that you would like to have information sent to.

Thanks, and I hope you all had a wonderful summer. We are looking forward to an exciting year of concerts and activities at St. Charles North!

Cait Flones
President, Friends of Music

Communications Board Position Open

Are you a person who has the knowledge to update a website and other web related programs? The Board is looking for someone who can help with us communicate with parents about the events coming up in the school year. Please contact Cait Flones (caitflones@aol.com) if you are interested to help us out.

Upcoming Dates to Note:

  • Football Games: August 28, September 11, September 25, October 9, October 23
  • Music Department Fitting Days: August 10 – 13 and August 18 (if needed)
  • Also consult the Music Department Calendar

Parents of Freshman Students!

At your child’s first concert, there will be a 15 minute presentation by the teachers and Friends of Music at the conclusion of the concert. While your child is packing up, you will be receiving important information about the music program and how the Friends of Music supports all the students in the different musical groups throughout the year. You will also have the opportunity to find ways to become involved with Friends of Music and its different support activities.

Please mark your calendar for these dates: November 9 – band, November 12 – orchestra & choir.

Hello to all St. Charles North Music Families, and welcome to this month’s issue of Polar Notes for the 2014-2015 school year!

Red Gate Sound Project
Red Gate Sound Project is coming up on Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 PM in the Auditorium! This concert features performances by St. Charles North Percussion students, as well as St. Charles North vocalists. The concert will includes tunes by Gotye, Bastille, and Meghan Trainor, among others. Tickets will be on sale at the door. This concert is a big hit every year, you do not want to miss this!

Parent Pep Band Cancelled
Due to a change in the date for the home basketball game, the Parent Pep Band scheduled for February 20 has been cancelled.

Jazz Showcase
While it is winter, May is not that far away, and with it, Jazz Showcase! Hello to all St. Charles North music families, and welcome to the second issue of Polar Notes for the 2014-2015 school year!

The first home football game was a bit different than I think we all expected. Big kudos to the band and drill team for entertaining the crowd in the gym Friday night! They did a fantastic job, and were well liked by both the Blue Fan Group and SCN fans, as well as the fans from Elk Grove. (The Kane County Chronicle tweeted that the “band and cheerleaders were trying to keep natives from growing restless in the steamy gym” on Friday night during the lightning delay. https://twitter.com/KaneCountyPreps/status/505531198295511040

Before we go much further, I was talking with a friend who is a music parent last week, and a question came up that I thought I would address. The question is, “Is Friends of Music only for Marching Band (or band in general)?” It’s a great question. Friends of Music supports ALL music students at St. Charles North, whether they are in choir, orchestra, jazz band, vocal jazz, or band. The parents on the Friends of Music board have children in all of these groups.

Thank you to everyone who helped out with Fitting Days! I really appreciate everyone who came out to make this so successful! I would especially like to thank Cathy Schwanebeck and Kim Devine for the hundreds of hours they put into getting Fitting Days organized and run! They spent a lot of the summer getting ready for this, and I really appreciate all their hard work. If you see them, please tell them thank you!

The Friends of Music Board is looking forward to seeing all of you on Thursday, September 4 at the Music Parents Pizza Party (aka MP3)! The MP3 starts at 6:30 PM in the auditorium. All music families (Choir, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Vocal Jazz, and Band) are invited to attend!

The next FoM Board meeting will be Tuesday night, September 9 at 7 PM in room 140 at the high school. It was originally scheduled for September 2, however due to some late conflicts, it had to be moved. Sorry for any confusion that caused.

Looking ahead, we are in need of volunteers to help out with uniforms and water at home football games. Cathy Schwanebeck and Kim Devine are helping to coordinate this, so if you are available, please contact them or contact me and I’ll put you in touch with them. This includes parents before games (to help students get their uniforms) and after games (to put the uniforms away), as well as help to distribute water bottles and pick them up during the games.

Are you interested in SCN Music Spiritwear? Check out the link on the scnmusic.com website! There are t-shirts and a hoodie available (in addition to the Marching Band T-Shirt for 2014-2015).

Coming up on November 11 is the Veteran’s Day Concert! This will be a tremendous event celebrating Veterans and their contributions to the nation and to us. We are in need of volunteers for that event, so if you are interested in helping out, please contact me.

Just a reminder, the board and I are very interested in receiving your feedback on how things are going, what is working and more importantly what isn’t. Feel free to contact any of us with your comments, questions, and suggestions. Our email addresses are at http://scnmusic.com/fom-board/.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the MP3, September 4. Thank you all for your support!

From The President

Hello to all St. Charles North music families, and welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! There is a lot going on in the Music Department, and Friends of Music is working hard to help support all of the activities that are happening.

  • Fund clinicians to work with different groups
  • Fund drill writing for Marching Band
  • Purchased new wireless mics for Vocal Jazz Ensembles in 2013
  • Purchased new sound board for the music department
  • Provide flowers for all graduating seniors
  • Fund replacement parts for marching band uniforms

None of this would be possible without the support of parent volunteers. We depend heavily on help from all parents of music students to help support the activities of all music students. If you are volunteering, thank you so much for your support! If you aren’t, please consider donating some of your time to support your child and the others involved in music. How can you get involved? There are a number of ways:

  • Sign up for an event at Fitting Days (August 11-14 and August 20)
  • Go online to scnmusic.com and click on Volunteers
  • Contact me at tubaandy@gmail.com, and I’d be happy to route you to the right person

The Friends of Music Board is a group of volunteers that helps to drive support of all activities. The 2014-2015 Friends of Music Board is as follows:

The board and I are very interested in receiving your feedback on how things are going, what is working and more importantly what isn’t. Feel free to contact any of us with your comments, questions, and suggestions.

Thanks, and I hope you all had a wonderful summer. Looking forward to an exciting year of concerts and activities at St. Charles North!

We Need Volunteers!

andy montgomery

The music program at St. Charles North High School is excellent in large part due to the efforts of parent volunteers who work behind the scenes to raise funds, plan and work events, sell tickets, advertise concerts, organize uniform fitting and provide the music directors with as much support as possible.

We need your help! It's fun and so important to all our student musicians.

Contact Andy Rollins to learn how you can play a part.

Thanks!

Fitting Nights

andy montgomery

Hello Everyone!!

We hope summer has been wonderful and relaxing!  It’s time to start thinking about Band Camp and Concert Wear fittings for the upcoming season and fitting days will be upon us very soon.

Below is the information about band camp and concert wear fittings.  Please consider helping out at least one night to help with concert wear fittings or with marching band fittings. Thank you so much in advance for all your help!!

Download the Music Attire Order Form here.

The upcoming Marching Band and Concert Wear Fitting Days will be :

August 11 - 14th from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm and
August 20th from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
(Fittings during Marching Band Camp will be August 11 - 14 AND August 20).

We will be fitting the kids for their marching band uniforms and concert wear by grade and section during the fitting days.  Students not in marching band who need concert wear fitted may attend any evening during the fitting days to order and pay for their concert wear.

During Band Camp we measure and fit all of the kids for their St Charles North Concert Wear (Boys and Girls) which includes Concert Dress for all music programs (Band, Choir, Orchestra) except Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz (Attire will be addressed later with directors).

The attire for concerts is as follows:

Girls -    Black concert gown (fit and purchase at fitting days) —$60.00
Black closed toe shoes (purchase on own)

              Black hose (purchase on own)

Boys -   Black Tux Pants (fit and purchase at fitting days) — $30
Black Tux Jacket (fit and purchase at fitting days) — $58
White Tux Shirt (fit and purchase at fitting days) — $17
              Black Socks (purchase on own)
              Tuxedo Buttons — $5
              Bow Tie — $5

**Alterations are the responsibility of the students.

Marching Band Uniform fitting is also performed at this time. The Marching Band kids will need the following items which we hope to provide during fitting days:

Shoes (fit and purchase at fitting days) — $25
Gloves
 — $  3
Cap
 — $15 * price estimated
Polo
 — $20 * price estimated

We also have flip folders, single pages and lyres for sale from Quinlan and Fabish during fitting days for those who need these items for marching band.  Prices are usually less at this venue than purchasing on your own at a local music store.

We do have a limited amount of gently used concert wear available and will sell these items at a considerable discount on a first come, first serve basis.  Checks for these items are made out separately to Friends of Music.

Wondering how you can help?  What can you do?  We are also looking for volunteers to help on August 11, 12, 13, 14 and August 20th (if final fitting day is needed) during band camp and would like to know if you are available to help one of or several of the days?  If you are not available can you send in snacks, food and water for the volunteers who will be coming over right after work and not have a chance to eat dinner?  Here is the list of areas where we need help:

Concert Wear - helping with processing the kids, marking down selected items ordered

Fittings & Sewing - help w/uniform fitting.  Can you sew?  It's really just tacking a hem...WE REALLY NEED YOU HERE!!

Rain Coats - Help size, and number the rain coats

Hats - Help size and number the hats

Check-in - handing out forms, having kids completely fill them out and keeping track of who has been through the area to be fitted

Checkout/Data Entry – checking out kids who are finished with their fittings, administrative work, excel work

Shoe Sizing - new students need marching band shoes.  Students who have grown need to replace their marching band shoes

Spirit Wear Table - selling spirit wear for 2014/2015

Volunteers Table - explain volunteer opportunity to parents and recruit new volunteers to help at Friends of Music events (worksheets are supplied for volunteers to sign up)

Food Donations – Can’t be there due to other obligations?  Send in snacks, food, and water for the volunteers who have come from work to the fitting days.  Thanks!

Water – help distribute water during half time and help clean up stands.

Music Parent Pizza Party (mp3)

andy montgomery

Our Music Parent Pizza Party (mp3) is coming up on September 4 at 6:30 pm at the St. Charles North Auditorium. This is a chance for all music parents to come out, meet the Friends of Music Board and each other, have some pizza, and answer any questions you may have. We will also go over to the field to watch this year’s Marching Band show, which will be very exciting! We do hope to see all of you there.
