Greetings to St. Charles North Music Families, and welcome to the fifth issue of Polar Notes for the 2014-2015 school year!
Congratulations to all the students on the Constellation Concerts! They put in a ton of work, and were fantastic. Thank you to the Music Faculty for all their work preparing the students for the concert! Thank you also to all the parents who volunteered their time to usher, take tickets, and supervise students. And finally, many thanks to Jennifer Nemetz for coordinating all the volunteers for both shows!
See our Constellation Concert gallery. A special thank you to Patti Wilk for donating her photography skills!
Music Camp Scholarships
Friend of Music is offering Music Camp Scholarships again this year. Is your son or daughter considering attending a music or drum major camp this summer? Consider applying for a Music Camp Scholarship! Go to http://scnmusic.com/scholorship, and fill out the form. Applications are due by February 6, 2015, and recipients will be notified by the beginning of March.
Looking for somewhere to eat on Wednesday, January 14? Don’t want to cook? Then come out to the South Elgin Culver’s for the Friends of Music Fundraiser! Running from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM, if you bring a copy of this flyer, 10% of the profit will go towards the cost for the New York City trip! Please consider helping out the members of Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Chorale, and Bel Canto. Thank you so much!
Red Gate Sound Project
Red Gate Sound Project is coming up on Saturday, February 28 in the Auditorium! This concert features pieces performed by St. Charles North Percussion students, as well as members of Vocal Jazz. This concert is not to be missed. More information will be available soon at scnmusic.com.
Parent Pep Band
On February 20, 2015, we will have a Parent Pep Band performing with the Taurus Band for the basketball game that night! We will meet at school at 5:45 PM. Dust off your instrument and come out and play some tunes with your son or daughter! Sign up at scnmusic.com. Pizza will be provided prior to the game for all participants (parents and students). Students who are not in the Taurus band are welcome to join us! If your son or daughter is not in the Taurus band, please sign them up at scnmusic.com so we have enough food.
It's the middle of winter now, but May is not that far away, and with it, Jazz Showcase! Jazz Showcase benefits all St. Charles North music students (not just Jazz students), and is a wonderful night of music, food, and dancing! Taking place on Friday, 5/22/15, this is a wonderful event. We are looking for parent volunteers from all St. Charles North music ensembles to help with a number of roles for Jazz Showcase. If you are interested, please contact Kris Hahn at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you in advance!
Just a reminder, the board and I are very interested in receiving your feedback on how things are going, what is working and more importantly what isn’t. Feel free to contact any of us with your comments, questions, and suggestions. Our email addresses are at http://scnmusic.com/fom-board/.
I hope you and your family are staying warm this week. Best of luck to all students on finals next week!
