Jazz Showcase

Friday May 31, 2019

Doors open at 6:30pm and the program will begin at 7:00pm

Dear Families of SCN Music Students,

As you may know, St. Charles North is a Grammy Award winning high school. We have been able to achieve this success in part because proceeds from our Jazz Showcase and other fundraisers. They have given us the ability to bring in guest clinicians, provide travel opportunities to national and international events and purchase and maintain musical instruments for the students.

This year, the Jazz Showcase will be held on Friday, May 31 at The Q Center in St. Charles. Both instrumental and vocal jazz groups will be performing. Although talented jazz ensembles of SCN will be featured that night, it is important to understand that the proceeds of this fundraising event benefits ALL of the amazing music programs at SCN.

The tradition of this event provides an opportunity for time spent with family and friends enjoying the entertainment and our annual Silent Auction. As you can imagine, an evening of this magnitude has many facets to its continued success. This is where you come in. There are many ways that you can support this event.

·       BUY TICKETS and attend with family and friends

·       Purchase ad space in the event program for your business or invite a friend to do the same

·       Make a donation to the silent auction or raffle

·       Volunteer your time by participating in one of the many subcommittees of this event:

  • Donation gathering

  • Basket Prep

  • Event set up

  • Check In / Check Out

  • Help during the event

  • Advertising

The students are what make the evening memorable, but the donations are what make the event a fundraising success beyond covering the cost of the venue. Gift cards, autographed memorabilia, tickets, large or small items, services – anything at all that you would be willing to donate would be greatly appreciated!

Please email me to let me know how you would like to show your support for the music programs of SCN. Don’t forget your contact information, and let me know of any questions you may have.

On behalf of the music students, staff at St. Charles North High School and the Friends of Music parents, I thank you very much for your consideration and support of this special event.

Mike Kolodziej

President, Friends of Music

Welcome to the music program at St. Charles North High School!

The Friends of Music are excited for another year filled with fun events and great music.

The Friends of Music is the booster organization that supports the music program at St. Charles North High School.  Our main focus is on volunteerism and fundraising to support our high-caliber music program and enhance the experience of all the students at North. Our main fundraisers through the year include:

  • Cheese cake sale (October/November)

  • Constellation Concert (December)

  • Jazz Showcase (June 2019)

Funds raised by Friends of Music benefit the program in a wide number of ways including the purchase of musical instruments, equipment, band camp scholarships and music clinics.

We also support many volunteer activities such as fitting days, spirit wear sales, Veteran's Day Concert, Constellation Concert and refreshments at different events throughout the year.

That's a lot...and we need your help. Please consider getting involved and making a donation at the link below. Your donation is tax deductible.

Parent Volunteers Needed….still looking for the perfect way to get involved?

  • Next year we need someone to step up to coordinate the wonderful Veterans’ Day Concert on November 11. We have volunteers in place and training available. You won’t have to do it alone! This popular event is a wonderful way to honor our service men and women.

Please contact Mike Kolodziej at mkdt531@comcast.net  to volunteer!

The Music Department at St. Charles North is comprised of hundreds of the most dedicated students in the school, expressing their artistry through one of more than 20 ensembles.

The Music Department at SCN depends on the generous support from our parents, faculty, administration, community and the Friends of Music. Please consider volunteering at one of our many events. Thank you!
